3. Gauge Swatch Ruler
Makers love to make, but there’s one thing we’re not really keen on. And that is called swatching. Swatching is crucial to determine the size of a finished project. This is pivotal, especially if we’re talking garments, so why oh why, do we not swatch? Having a tool specifically to measure the swatch that is both practical and useful would be quite helpful. So the answer to this is a gauge swatch ruler!
These rulers also come in multiple sizes, such as 2”/5 cm or 4”/10 cm, and materials such as plastic, metal or bamboo. Personally, I love the wooden carved ones with the 4” square to count the rows and stitches inside. However, I’ve found out the hard way that when you’re always on the move, the likelihood of breaking it is quite high, if not inevitable. And finally, with all the activities included in this 3-day extravaganza, the ticket price will not be the nicest to your wallet. Add to that the expenses associated with getting there (like transport and accommodation) and being there (they have yarn crawls, for goodness sake!!!).
