Inspiration
A couple of months ago, Marie from Underground Crafter and I got in contact about doing a collaboration. We agreed that I would do a guest post for her blog. I had never done a collaboration before so I got really excited about this opportunity! Marie was very gracious about everything and I really wanted to make something special for this feature.
It’s funny how sometimes a design really takes its time to form in my head. However, this opportunity had me jumping around from the start and I just knew what I wanted to do! 🙂
After my Floral Summer Cardi, I was itching to make another crochet cardigan, and this was the perfect moment. I immediately saw a slightly oversized cardigan in a bright summer color. I wanted this to be an easy design, with a mesh pattern and a ribbing edge but made with simple stitches so that a beginner could tackle it.
And this was how the crochet Easy Ribbed Cardigan popped to life!
Project
For this cardigan, I used Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK. It’s a 100% cotton yarn with a wide range of colors. I went for the Bubblegum Pink because I just can’t resist a great pink. 😉 The Cotton DK is really nice to work with. It doesn’t split easily, and believe me when I say, that I tested it thoroughly! (I miscalculated a front panel size and had to frog it entirely. DUH!)
This yarn comes in 50g balls, which means that for this project you’ll need quite a few. Luckily, there is a Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK 10 ball value pack available so getting all the material in the same dye lot becomes a lot easier!
As for the pattern itself, it’s a T-shaped cardigan, made with 3 panels that are seamed together. The ribbing is added later. The pattern is available in 8 sizes, from XS to 4X!
I’m very happy with this crochet Easy Ribbed Cardigan and very proud to be sharing it through Underground Crafter! I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed this whole process!
Thank you Marie, at Underground Crafter for this opportunity!
